Weekend Update #3

Oh look! This is a regular thing!  Because weekends… they’re regular things. Yes. Let’s run with it.

Friday evening Adriel came over with three wine kits, three beer kits, 6 carboys, 7 dozen stubby bottles and miscellaneous booze making paraphernalia.  We made lots of it. Now comes the hard part – the waiting. I want to drink it now. Obviously. Patience has never been a strong suit. I went downstairs to do something yesterday and I could hear the wine bubbling. Ooooh! Science, in my basement – soon in my belly.

Saturday evening was the I Dig Your Girlfriend website launch at Hooliganz. It was a pretty stellar time honouring some cool ladies (bros and all those people in between). Met up with some co-workers, had a glass of wine (or two) and discovered that a certain someone loves Garth Brooks. We were getting all geared up to sing a duet and then found out that karaoke was done for the evening. I had the privilege of finally meeting James Leask (he’s super sweet and didn’t laugh at my sweet moves). Super night. Not sure how much the party raised for Edmonton’s Pride Centre, but I hope it was a lot!

It was Father’s Day. And while I rocked the “do awesome things for your partner and blame it on your kids”, I totally failed at getting my Dad a card in the mail, or speaking to him in person. We called, but they were out with the Washington installment of my family. Attia and I left an adorable message, and then sent a photo text message. Definitely not the same as having an actual conversation – but given that our verbal conversations are usually so short, we might be okay? Maybe? Okay, fine. I’ll call him tonight. Sheeeeeeeesh, you internet people and your pressure.

I made a pie. It was called Cheater’s Mousse Pie. Three ingredients and I managed to screw it up by buying the non-instant version of the chocolate pudding required. I’d like to blame it on my toddler – but there’s only so many things you can and should blame on a person under the age of two. She gets a pass this time! Luckily in the recesses of my pantry I had a white chocolate instant pudding mix, so I just shook in some cocoa powder and called it a day. This dessert isn’t fancy, but totally does the trick in a pinch. Just remember: instant pudding mix.

This weekend marked my 6th week of Couch to 5K and my 2nd week of logging my food and exercise with My Fitness Pal. I was a lazy mofo this week and ended up over-eating on more than one occasion, so much so that I was about 200 calories over my target for the week. Obviously the only solution was to turn on Food Network Star while I killed my last few calories for the week. Yeah, working out while watching people make delicious food, it’s a special kind of torture. That and I really love Alton Brown. Brains are especially sexy on a man, especially when so much of that brain space is devoted to food knowledge. Oh, and the bow tie is really cute.

That was my weekend – how was yours?

If you insist! Just means the plant will grow the garlic better. ;) And yes, you have the nicest lawn in the neighborhood. Do you use RoundUp? Hahahahahahaha.

    No, roundup, that kills lawns

I know! I was being funny since my neighbor killed his weeds (and lawn) with Roundup. ;)

PIE! You kind of buried the lead there. You should have called this the Weekend PIE! Update.

Sounds like you had a great time all things said and done. I’m curious about your brewing adventures. :)

I totally almost forgot I made a pie (that’s how quickly it went). Then I saw the picture in the group and was all, “OH YEAH! PIE!” I should totally do a weekend of pies one day…

Also, booze making. Will keep you posted.
